Prof. Dr. med. Clément Max Léonard WERNER

Teaching, Research, and Service for the Patient – this is my vocation

Teaching: Teaching medical students and young residents is one of my main favorites. An early understanding of the musculoskeletal system helps to find the optimal diagnosis of treatment.

Research: Ever since I started medical school I’ve been driven by curiosity. Sometimes good clinical practice has been questioned which led to new methods of treatments or operation technics. The goal has always been to reach an optimal result for patient welfare. One of my main contributions was the development of a new Illosacral Implant which allows immediate weight bearing through a minimally invasive approach (keyhole technique).

Service for Patients: The well-being of the patients has the first priority. At the time of the first visit, an evaluation and examination take place to annalize wherever the pain or dysfunction comes from. Later special examinations like X-RAY, CT, MRI, SPECT/CT, or electro physical examinations are performed. The results are then discussed with the patient and the treatment concept created. Whenever possible a non-surgical approach is aimed at like an infiltration. I do perform the infiltration myself to assure that the best possible feedback directly from the patient can be achieved. In case the results of the non-surgical therapy are not of long endurance operative methods have to be evaluated. These are performed in a minimally invasive way whenever possible.
